This Thursday (7th of March) marks the international celebration of World Book Day. Now in its 16th year, World Book Day aims to ensure as many children as possible explore the pleasures of books and reading!
With events happening all over the country, competitions to encourage literary participation, and of course a selection of books published specially for the event, there are many ways you and your children can celebrate the occasion.
Many schools, libraries and nurseries offer events on World Book Day, such as "Dress up as a Book Character", organised reading sessions and book fairs. Find out what's happening in your local area and pop along to enjoy the fun!
At home you can also join in with The Biggest Book Show on Earth: a free online festival which is streamed live from 11am on the 7th of March.
The event features an amazing line-up of NINE amazing authors and illustrators including Tony Robinson, Lauren Child, Shirley Hughes, Francesca Simon, Anthony Horowitz, Rachel Bright, Liz Pichon, Cathy Cassidy and Guy-Parker-Rees - and hosted by Tony Robinson himself!
